A little clarity before you download.
An available file is just the beginning. Check your device, build, and installation requirements.
1. Match your exact hardware
The marketing name and hardware identifier are separate. An iPhone 11 can be identified as iPhone12,1. Check the compatible hardware list for the individual file, plus any board restrictions. A release’s broad device map does not make every file compatible with every listed device.
2. Choose the right package
Restore IPSW, full OTA, delta OTA and macOS installers serve different purposes. Delta OTA requires a listed starting build. OTA packages are not generic desktop installers. AirPods normally update automatically. Mac restore workflows differ for Apple silicon, T2 and other Intel models. Watch and HomePod files are not a promise of consumer manual restore support.
3. Read signing in context
Signed and Unsigned are time-bound observations for an exact file and device. Unknown means no adequate recent observation is available. Not Applicable is used for packages where restore signing is not the relevant check. Installation can still depend on personalization, SEP/baseband compatibility, enrollment, hardware state and Apple policy.
4. Download directly from Apple
The Download button redirects to a reviewed Apple CDN hostname. The application does not proxy or store multi-gigabyte firmware. A source-reported active link is different from a checked HTTP response; inspect both the availability label and timestamp. Protected beta links are not provided as public downloads.
Resume and integrity
Use your browser or a trusted local download tool. Resume requires server support for HTTP Range. Parallel ranges can help some connections and slow others; no speed improvement is promised. Hashes are metadata supplied by the source, not hashes computed here from the entire binary. A future local download manager can use Range, retries and integrity checking; this release provides direct redirects only.
Signing is specific to the device and file. A signed build does not guarantee a downgrade or successful installation.
